Help for Nepal at the villages of Jitpur and Balambu
Dhammakaya Meditation Center in Nepal works on the ground to assist the Nepal earthquake victims at the villages of Jitpur and Balambu
On 14th May 2015 in Nepal, Phra Thavorn Thavaro – head of the Relief team for Nepal Earhquake victims from the Dhammakaya Foundation reports that the team continues to provide assistance to the earthquake victims. And today, the team went to give aid to the villagers of Jitpur, district 5 and the neighbouring areas with over 70 families residing at the relief center ‘Dhammastali’. The team together with the affected villagers were restoring the buildings following the destructive storm and prepared to hand out needed supplies to the victims.
In addition, on 13th May, a relief team from the Dhammakaya Meditation Center in Nepal led by Phra Ronnapope Chotilapho – the presiding monk of the International Meditation Center,Godavari- a branch of Dhammakaya temple, Thailand, along with Phra Sarjiv Sutthaso, provided 163 tents to the people of Balambu village. Phra Sook Thero of Wat Phranithipurana Vihara came to receive the equipment and further distributed to the victims. On the same day, the team paid a visit to Wat Anantakutti Vihara and found cracks and damage on Sayompu Cetiya, a structure dating back over 2,000 years. The team also contributed 10,000 rupees to renovate the temple as it is the first Theravada Temple in Nepal.
Phra Thavorn states “After the 7.3 magnitude aftershock following the earthquake, the people remained panicked. The Relief team from the Dhammakaya Foundation led by Phrathepyanmahamuni (Luang Por Dhammajayo) continues to provide assistance to the affected victims on a daily basis, focusing on providing required equipment and supplies such as tents, blankets, nets, food and drinking water etc. The relief team also set up a team of volunteers providing basic medicine for patients and organized the training program of Universal Goodness and a revitalization program for the people. Lastly, the team gave holy amulets for moral support of earthquake victims so that they can continue to live their lives happily”
